Some say Yoshi does not have a gender, though the female Birdo (who appears in super Mario Brothers II) has a crush on it.
The gender of different yoshi can be determined by special features seen on the yoshi. if you see the more common version of yoshi (with round horns, red/orange shoes, and no eyelashes) then you would say that it’s male. However, you can sometimes find female yoshies (with eyelashes, brown shoes, and oval horns.)
Many say Yoshi has no gender, but he is often considered a male despite the fact he lays eggs. It could be that both male and female yoshies can lay eggs.
The most popular argument saying Yoshi is a male refers to SSBB. When you use Snake’s Easter egg taunt the Colonel refers to him as a male.
Another argument is, Yoshi’s a guy because Birdo is a girl. She has a crush on Yoshi and the rumors that Birdo is transgender are most likely untrue.
With the two points above, Colonel stating that Yoshi is in fact a male and Birdo’s crush, it is most likely Yoshi is an egg laying male. Perhaps there are female yoshis but I believe the green one is male!
Growing up Yoshi was my favourite character and I always thought he was a a boy. The evidence above is pretty suggestive as well.
